Tinnitus Therapy Synthesizer (TTS)

Created after a personal struggle with tinnitus, TTS started as a simple tool to manage daily life. Over time, feedback from musician friends with tinnitus helped shape it into a more refined system, now being tested in clinical trials.

It operates on principles of sound therapy and interactive engagement, encouraging users to shape their own therapeutic soundscapes through digital music composition. This blend of therapy and creativity provides a personalized, engaging experience tailored to each individual's tinnitus frequency and needs.

  • Being used as a research tool for masking therapy at Ankara University Medical School (Dept. of Audiology) and Hacettepe University Faculty of Medical Sciences (Dept. of Audiology)

  • Title of the Study: "Effects of Sleep Music and Tinnitus Masking Therapy on Tinnitus, Sleep, and Quality of Life"                                                                   The study is planned to run from November 2024 to June 2025.

  • Based on scientifically-supported methods such as Acoustic Coordinated Reset Neuromodulation (ACRN), Notch Therapy, and Heidelberg Neuro-Music Therapy, the compositions aim to influence brain plasticity and reduces tinnitus perception, harmonizing masking therapy through music theory.

響影 (Hibikikage)

響影 (Hibikikage) or _echoshade_ is a responsive compositional system that generates dynamic electronic dance music compositions based on crowd movement and social cohesion.

  • This project highlights the potential of interactive technology in immersive entertainment by integrating audience movement into music generation without enforcing rules to the participants (wear this, download that, etc.) â€‹â€‹

    • Designed for dance music culture, it fuels a feedback loop where the atmosphere and crowd movements influence each other through usage of psychoacoustics and electronic music generation techniques.

Ambient Dialogues

Ambient Dialogues is an evolving collection of responsive musical systems designed for site-specific applications. It utilizes custom-trained machine learning models for voice-activated elements and generative soundscapes in cultural context to transform public spaces through computational compositions. By allowing the audience to unconsciously engage with the music, it elevates public spaces (museums, fairs, restaurants, coffee houses) into immersive auditory environments.

This project explored how tiny inputs could evolve a soundscape in&for large spaces. Watching people unconciously engage in unexpected ways made it clear how sonification of everyday behavior of people can elevate our surroundings.

Notable Installations:

  • Erimtan Archaeology and Arts Museum - Ancient Volume, Wizard & the Garden (2021-2022)

  • 13% 7th Artankara - International Contemporary Art Fair (2021)

Chair

'Chair' repurposes an unnoticed everyday object into a conduit, mostly present for humans during information consumption. Interference signals around the object are converted into audible sound - coming from the chair itself during interaction.

This work challenges conventional perceptions of everyday objects, encouraging audiences to reconsider the relationship between form, function, and sound - signifying their values in the post-modern era of artistic expression. It is a result of a brain excersize for a private exhibition/collection.

Woodroom (Studio Work)

Woodroom is the electronic music lab that I’ve founded in Ankara.

It is a creative environment for local musicians from any background to musically collaborate and experiment with an array of electronic hardware and software devices - designed to experiment in electronic music and sound design.

Woodroom serves as a creative incubator, facilitating collaboration and innovation in music production, which can lead to novel artistic expressions for local artists.
